Car Clone

After months of toiling over what new car to purchase, I finally found the car for me. It is a new version of my old car Godiva. Yes, I name my cars. My new car is the same color and model, (minus 4 years) as Godiva. Aside from a few cosmetic differences, this nameless car is nearly a clone of my old.

My struggles over choosing a new car were complicated. In the end, I couldn’t ignore how much I despised what Toyota did to the new Sequoia. It looks like a big puffy toe. And, the new inside dash is cluttered with huge kindergarten steady knobs. The new 2008 Sequoia is bigger with more leg room.  They stole that extra leg room from the storage space. For me, the only reason I drive a large car is so I’m able to tote my three children and all their friends/crap around. Skate bags, Strollers, tennis bags, golf clubs, car seats, and diaper bags pollute my car space. So the new improved Sequoia with extra legroom is not practical for me.

Let me be honest and go on the record saying “I would have bought the new Sequoia with the extra leg room, which was stolen from the storage space, if the car looked good. Puffy toe, isn’t my kind of ride.” Not to mention the horrible nightmares I was having about driving an even larger gas guzzling street hog, with the environmentalists running me off the road while tossing fresh paint all over my new car and screaming “Go Green! You Fat Fossil Hogger”.

I have computed the gas I spend in a year and divided it between the 5 people in my family (that is my ready statement for the environmentalists). My car is practical for my business and family’s needs. Moving up into a larger version of my car would be a waste. Plus, the environmentalists man, they might bring PETA, and I don’t think I could explain the leather.

Anyway, I’m happy with my choice. It wasn’t easy finding a 2007 Sequoia, but somehow we did it. It took more time than we had to devote to car hunting, and I’m sure we annoyed a few too many car salesman in the process (HA! as if, we care about the salesmen! HA!). All in all, we came out victorious.

Now I must focus on finding Godiva a good home. She has been a good car and we love her. In the meantime, I park both my Sequoias side by side. They have become like sisters. Although, I think Godiva has been gossiping a little about some of my tantrums. I’ll set that straight later.

For my brother, who is still sanding in astonishment in my drive way, and who doesn’t even read or know about this blog, “yes, I bought the same car, yes I have two. When I find something good I always buy more than one, just look at my collection of black yoga pants and Uni-ball pens“. Thank you little brother, for looking at me like I’m some kind of crazy.

To my Hubby, who has been supportive even though he didn’t understand why I don’t like the new Sequoia and couldn’t wrap his head around the concept of purchasing a 2007 when 2008 is out, and with a new body style, I thank you. I also thank you, Mr. Evanzstox, for not being too disappointed when you couldn’t surprise me with a new 2008 Sequoia after listening to me rant and rave about the ugly big toe, along with outbursts of “WHY? TOYOTA, WHY?” And, did I mention that I saw a new 2008 Sequoia on the highway this morning? It looked good. Sorry, but you had to have seen that coming.
