Here comes the bride…

As an event coordinator I have planned many weddings. During the process, there is usually a moment when someone will turn to me and say “wow, I bet your wedding was phenomenal!” and my reply is always the same “it was a great day”.

It was great because I married the man I love, great because he is still my best friend, great because we are still together and have 3 wonderful children, but not great for the wedding day festivities.

If you were there you witnessed the madness; my turtle neck wedding dress disaster, the monochromatic cream and white floral arrangements that came delivered in solid RED flowers, the cake that was layered with two different flavors (carrot and chocolate raspberry), the Mother of the groom who was working devilishly to get our best man to break us up, the broken families who all had to come together and pretend they like each other, the tuxedos that were mismatched by size and style, the groom forgetting his socks and borrowing my dad’s (who went sockless) minutes before the ceremony, the loyal bridesmaids who were glaring at my soon to be mother-in-law, the photographer showing up early before Travis’s grandparents were at the reception, the Italian wedding breakfast that made our guests worry that Sammy the Bull may show up, the long line of guests who neither Travis or I knew, the heat wave that hit and the air conditioning that didn’t work, the close friends who didn’t receive invitations (still a mystery), the ex high school cheerleader who wasn’t invited but came anyway to prove her stupidity, the limousine driver who brought his prostitute girlfriend along for the ride and who didn’t know where the airport was and got lost, AND whom we didn’t tip so he charged his own generous tip to our card.   Finally, let me not forget, the bell man at the Vegas hotel who turned our television on (reason unknown) and discovered it didn’t work, and then proceeded to send up 3 technicians to fix the problem. They worked on the stinkin’ thing until 1:00 AM, and provided us a candid camera style honeymoon; Lush honeymoon suite, newlyweds, a torn apart television, and three smelly technicians (who wouldn’t leave), but no hidden camera.

Looking back at our wedding day is amusing. I made the right choice; married the right guy, and still look forward to a life time together with him. Happy Anniversary Mr. Stock! Did you ever think I would say I’m amused by our wedding day circus?

This is a photo of the cake from our ten year anniversary (three years ago). Travis always said he was going to get me a diamond bigger than 10 carats, if you can see the huge hunk of CZ on this cake you will see he wasn’t kidding, nor was he talking about a real diamond.

Our Anniversary Cake...Yummy
